The Australian blog ii-ne-kore is on my regular reading list. Although, perhaps “reading” is a misnomer, since ii-ne-kore posts usually numerous photos with minimal (yet informative) commentary.
One of the blogs ii-ne-kore frequently reads and re-blogs is Ouno Design, which funnily enough is based out of Vancouver, in my home province of BC.
In her most recent post, ii-ne-kore re-blogged the above photo from Ouno Design. I recognized it immediately—but not because I’ve passed it while walking along Commercial Drive (although who knows, I’ve probably done that, too).

I recognized the signs from the inside-cover art of the Lucksmiths’ 2002 release Where Were We? (above). The weirdest part about this whole scenario is that the Lucksmiths, like ii-ne-kore, are from Australia.
Here’s the front cover:

I’m now suspicious that this whole album is Canadian-themed, and I hadn’t realized it until now. The canoe seems to be a bit of a tip-off. The photo screams Ontario cottage country.
Now I’m wondering if the other inside-cover photo wasn’t taken in the Okanagan…
